Executive Director’s Message

With the start of the New Year I have begun my adventure as the new Executive Director. I want to thank you for this new opportunity. I must admit that I’m very excited. Good things are happening at the Alliance in 2012. We have the CPAT test equipment set up and the first flight of candidates have begun their process. The second flight will begin on January 14th. I will be in the office a few days a week and out on the road visiting with each of our members and potential new members. I hope to renew old friendships, establish new ones and get to see each of our members’ firehouse operations. I’ll have a survey in hand, but I’ll appreciate your candid remarks and suggestions. Without your input, support and encouragement the Alliance would not be able to continue the “Alliance Advantage.” So until I see you at a committee, a board meeting or at the firehouse, I wish you and your families a Happy & Healthy New Year!

Stay safe,

David M. Kimbler

Executive Director's Message

February is Heart Month. Not just a time to remember your Valentine - which is a good thing, but also your heart health. The statistics are still terrible - 50% of all firefighters' deaths are due to coronary disease. When the call goes out the adrenaline goes up and stays up far after the event. I'd like to remind our members that the Health & Wellness Template is still on the Alliance website. There are so many helpful resources on the web or at your local community recreation centers. I know how easy it is to pick up the remote and not your running shoes. But if you show your heart some love, you might just be around for a long time for the ones that love and depend on you.

Stay safe,
Dave Kimbler

MVFEA 2011 Annual Report

The Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance Annual Report for 2011 is close to completion. As in years past, the report will highlight the work of the Board of Directors and the committees. The report will place emphasis on economy of scale through the bid process, the heavily discounted services, regional cooperation and life-saving trainings. In addition, there is a section for reports from OH-TF1, Region 3 Rescue Strike Team and Dayton Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team. The Annual Report will be presented at the April 25, 2012 Board of Directors Meeting.
