The CPAT process is highly regulated. Listed below are the basics of the process. They request that the host department complete the safety documents and handle the suppression of the training fires.  At the end of the training the host department could continue to burn the structure down as long as all the legal requirements were met. The host department would be provided with up to 10 students in the class at no charge for the donation of time and management and energy. If you are interested or able to step…

From the Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal:   May 19, 2011 To Ohio's Fire Service; Recently the Atlanta (GA) Fire Rescue Department was forced to recall more than 18,000 smoke alarms after an investigation by the FBI and Underwriters Laboratories found the smoke alarms were counterfeit. Although the Division of State Fire Marshal is not aware of any similar issues in Ohio, we wanted to make certain all fire departments were aware of the problem that was reported by CBS Atlanta. Their article, with video, can be found at this link: http://www.cbsatlanta.com/news/27868897/detail.html A legitimate smoke alarm should have an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) sticker and issue number along with a manufacturer's label and model number. The counterfeit smoke alarms uncovered in Georgia contained only a hologram Underwriters Laboratories (UL) sticker with no issue number or manufacturer's label. The Division of State Fire Marshal encourages your fire department to purchase smoke…
