Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance
Current Committees and Workgroups
Executive Committee – Chief Charles Ford – Chairperson
The committee is comprised of five members of the Alliance Board of
Directors – one from Dayton, one from a full time department, two from
combination departments, and one from a volunteer department. They meet
monthly and direct the day-to-day business of the Alliance.
Ohio Task Force One Oversight Committee – Chief Jim Nickel –
Chairperson
The committee, formerly know as the “Rescue Committee” is responsible for
the oversight of Ohio Task Force One, a FEMA US&R team. Chief Nickel
serves as the Sponsoring Agency Chief for OHTF-1.
Training/H.R./Support Committee – Chief Mark Thomas – Chairperson
The committee deals with issues regarding training and common HR
procedures such as hiring and promoting. The committee developed a common
written examination process and physical ability test (CPAT) that is
available to participating Alliance members. The committee is currently
developing joint promotional testing procedure.
Health and Wellness Workgroup – Lt. Robert Hogeland - Chairperson.
The committee’s mission is to provide a regional response to the need for
improved health, wellness and fitness among firefighters in the Miami
Valley. The committee is sponsoring a Health & Wellness Seminar with guest
speaker Joe Bonanno, Jr. (ret. NYC) on Nov. 18, 2005.
Joint Purchasing Workgroup This group is currently working on joint
purchasing for as many as eight ambulance/medic units. Contracts should be
awarded early in 2006.
EMS Workgroup – Chief Robert Bobbitt – Chairperson
The committee addresses training, administrative, and operational EMS
issues. They have developed workgroups to develop ideas for printing EMS
reports at the hospitals and a common reporting software system. EMS
Supplies Bid should be awarded early in 2006.
Communications Workgroup – Chief Ken Parks – Chairperson
The main focus of work of the committee has been the development of an
interoperability system for communications for fire departments and police
departments. A common radio template was developed and is in the final
process of installation. Next projects include investigating data
communications.
IMT Workgroup - Mike Caudill & Roy Mann - Co-Chairperson
This group is busy developing local Type 5 Incident Support Teams and
taking the first steps for the formation of a regional Type IV Incident
Management Team.
Hazmat Advisory Board David Robinson – President of the Board
The board members are the oversight board for the Dayton Area Regional
Hazardous Response Team.
