The Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance is sponsoring
a regional entry-level testing process for firefighters. This process includes a
written examination and a physical ability test.
There will typically be morning and afternoon testing sessions. Each
candidate will be assigned to a specific session. The test will be held at
Sinclair Community College, Building 20, 220 South Edwin C. Moses Blvd. in
Dayton Ohio. You will receive a Written Examination Entry Ticket with the
specific time and location for your test session before you leave this
orientation – after paying the $50.00 testing fee. If you do not pay the testing
fee today, you must pay by cashiers or certified check, or money order,
made out to the Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance, and delivered to our offices not
later than the due dated officially posted.
The day of the written test, all candidates must
be on time or they will not be admitted into the testing site. No exceptions
will be made. No refunds will be given. You must the bring ticket with you for
the written test. You must bring the ticket with you for the Orientation.
You should bring a copy of your fire, EMS and fire inspector certifications to
the written test. These certifications will be stapled to your registration form
and will be noted on the resulting eligibility lists. Failure to provide these
certifications may result in your being passed over for a position for which you
might be qualified. Hiring communities may note that you have no certifications
marked on the eligibility list and move on to the next candidate. Ohio
Certifications not National Registry will be accepted.
You should review the information on the Testing Announcement bulletin and FAQ
document you received when you filled out your registration. If you lost this
document, it is available on the Alliance website at www.mvfea.com. This
document contains very important information, especially relevant to the written
examination and Ergometrics testing processes.
A notice of whether you passed or failed the written examination will be mailed
out to the address on your registration form within one week after the written
examination is completed. This mailing will include an Entry Ticket to the CPAT
if you pass the written examination. This Ticket will give the specific time,
date and location for the CPAT. The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) will
be given on a specified date.
You may still take the CPAT even if you do not pass the written examination. To
do so, you must come by the Alliance offices during normal business hours to
obtain an Entry Ticket to the CPAT.
The CPAT testing fee of $50.00 will be collected on the day of your CPAT test.
No one will be allowed to take the CPAT until this fee has been paid (cashiers
or certified checks, or money orders, only – made payable to the Miami Valley
Fire/EMS Alliance). Also, no one will be admitted to the test if they arrive
after the time scheduled on their Entry Ticket.
All participating communities are equal opportunity employers. |
